Carnival Land is a richly illustrated graphic novel, the story of a young girl who immigrates to a fictional Carnival Land. In this strange country innocence and deception wear masks and she stumbles through exploitation and promises as she tries to find her true self.
The book is written, designed, and illustrated by Tatiana and is told in both English and Portuguese. With unique four-page foldouts that take your breath away, Tatiana has constructed a richly textured, theatrical world using an intricate technique known as digital photomontage.
As part of the Auckland Writers & Readers Festival, [11-15th May], Carnival Land (the book and enlargements) will be on display at the Satellite Gallery.
