“I have been playing drums for almost fifteen years and during that time I’ve broken many sticks, skins, knuckles, cymbals and even a couple of drums.Over the past couple of years I have been playing in a Hamilton based metal band called World War Four and the attrition rate of my gear has doubled.I began collecting my destroyed skins and cymbals and painting on them.
After a particularly rocking show, someone said I was probably the hardest hitter they had seen. I shook my head as it is a known fact that Terry from M.S.U is the hardest hitter in Hamilton.
Terry doesn’t paint. I do.”
-Greg Page
Greg Page is an Auckland based painter who captures energy and raw emotion in his work. He is a prolific artist with a strong exhibition history in galleries such as Letham and Satellite. Greg’s addictive style of gestural painting captures essence and expression with deceptive simplicity. His use of text and raw sketch create work that is both humorous and strangely emotive.
