Sculpture in cast glass and metal by three emerging talents; Divas cuts through generalisations that pervade our psyche.Cold materials, worked with tenderness for the subject, can offer subtleties of suggested conflicts, impressions and emotions when seen in different lights.
Gill ruminates on historical and modern theories of mankind, based on years of research both written and practical. Using specialised cast glass techniques she produces delicate and understated works.
Conversely, Catharina is bold and often forthright in her approach, and is highly skilled in cast glass. She uses snippets of society as a platform on which to build her ideas. Her underlining passion is for commercial structures and architecture.
Tui delves into New Zealand’s iconography and history, to uncover what defines our culture and gender related roles. Domestic metalware and items from our society are combined to create conceptual and often kitsch works.
