Cheryl Wright - Past and Present

Cheryl Wright | Past and Present
11th – 22nd August 2009

Opening: Tues 11th August, 5.30 – 7pm

The Whakakaiwhara Peninsula is the theme of Cheryl Wrights first solo art exhibition..
This represents her interpretation of early Maori history extending back approx 650 years and her passion for the coastal farm also known as Duder Regional Park.
Drawn to the isolation and tranquillity of this wonderful part of South Auckland, walking there is an inspiration for her art and has led her to delve into the interwoven threads of history in the Peninsula which includes several archaeological sites, the most significant being Whakakaiwhara Pa.

"I’m excited to have this opportunity to express, through my works, my passion for this awe-inspiring coastal farm. To tell you stories through my paintings in colours which, like the land itself, sing with vibrancy and lift the spirits”.
